3-3 Random Rambling from the Wheel
The Tea Party is going to primary Boehner because he hasn't cut the budget enough or in what they think is a timely manner. They are obviously clueless as to how government works...and at what pace. One TP advocate went so far as to say that Charlie Sheen makes more sense than Boehner. Wow, that's saying something.
Not content to bash the President, more Huckab-s today when he said that Natalie Portman was glorifying unwed motherhood. I will say this, the question by right-wing radio talker Micheal Medved was a leading one and proved that the Huckster will simply bite into whatever the interviewer feeds him. No shame, no sense, no business leading, yes leading, the polls in the GOP field. Unbelievable.
Ever-growing demonstrations around the country prove that the polls are right. The People are against the Republican plans. Team Obama can stop negotiating now. The TP's are splitting the Party and the People are giving voice to their displeasure. Which leads me to tonight answer to last night's question, which also comes from the SOSADepartment: Who is really to blame for the mess we're in?
We are. The People of the United States of America are to blame for what is going on in this country. This is why I posted on Facebook the other day the following: It's nice to see the country awaken from the technological narcolepsy it has been in and stand up for what is right. They distracted us with the shiny objects and told us that we work for them, not them for us. We gave up our voice in favor of satellite TV, IPods, IPads, IPhones, internet porn, whatever. They distracted us with the gadgets that caused our reversion to our primitive simian ways.
We went back into the trees and stared in amazement at the shiny objects. And they took over. The last 30 years has been a systematic and patient devolving of the middle class. Tax breaks for the wealthy, loopholes, subsidies, unfunded wars and other programs have all led to the deficit and debt which is, without question, a crisis. Democrats the other day introduces legislation that would end the tens of billions of dollars that we give in subsidies to the oil companies. The Big 5 have recorded almost a trillion dollars in PROFIT in the past decade and are currently gouging us again at the pumps. Here in Cali, we are probably just days away from $4 a gallon gas and the Republicans UNANIMOUSLY defeated the measure. Even the TP'ers.
That's how the rich get richer and the rest of us start saving cardboard boxes and stocking up on cat food even if we don't have a cat.
We let it get to this. And we are starting, finally, to take it back. Here's a couple of predictions: Scott Walker and 3 Republican representatives in Wisconsin will face a recall challenge and Walker will lose. In Ohio, the voters will get the bill there onto the ballot and defeat it by referendum. Chris Christie will back off the cops and firefighters. Democrats will win major seats and the White House in '12, but not necessarily with Obama.
Probably, but not guaranteed.
There's an old axiom out there that holds truer today than ever. Paraphrasing here a tad: There's nothing worse than an enemy with nothing to lose. And Hamsters, they are out for our last nickle.
Time to get off the wheel and get out there. Get involved, even if it's only online. Take part in polls. Get your voices heard. Let's give them a big Hamster Roar! (Ok, so hamsters don't roar so much as squeak, but if you get enough of them together and try to take the last of their food, you'll hear a deafening squeaky roar...like a million nails on a chalkboard!)

3-2 Random Rambling From the Wheel
Answer to last night's question #1:
Ok. so the day after I ask the question, Why isn't anyone talking about Bradley Manning, the government adds 22 charges with one that includes the death penalty. I guess they'll be talking about him now.
It doesn't matter whether or not you agree with what he allegedly did. What matters was the treatment he received. Almost 8 months in solitary confinement. No contact with his family, only his attorney. Held without charges for most of that time. Held as someone who had already been convicted then started a fight in the prison. I continually hear politicians say that America is a nation of laws while they recite select passages from the pocket-sized Constitution they carry around. And yet and American citizen is treated as Bradley Manning has been is okay. No, it's not.
The Republicans in Wisconsin are threatening the Senate 14 with losing their parking places at the Capitol. Wow, that must really be the incentive those rogue Senators need to get them back to Madison.
The Senator from Wisconsin that was on the Ed Show on MSNBC last night, the one who called the protesters in the Capitol "slobs", was back on tonight with four of the protesters. It didn't go well for the Senator. Meanwhile, since Gov. Walker locked the Capitol building, two Assembly Dems moved their desks outside to meet with constituents. Priceless.
Team Obama has waited long enough. It's time to put on those "comfortable shoes" and stand with your electorate. If you want to get re-elected, you'd better start acting more like a Democrat and less like a wimp.
In the game of Who Can Pass the Worst Laws With the Most Inventive Tactics, Ohio may have just passed the Wisconsin Republicans, although it is hard to determine which is worse. As you might recall, the Wisconsin Assembly passed the Walker bill by essentially calling the debate then allowing only a few seconds to vote. Since only the Republicans knew the plan, none of the Democrats got a vote cast. It was probably illegal and will likely go to court. In Ohio, they couldn't even get the bill out of committee because of Republican, yes Republican opposition. So the Speaker of the Senate removed said Republican from the committee, replaced him with a partisan member and passed the bill out of committee. Then did the same thing when the vote came up. It passed by one vote, with several Republican Senators voting against it. That was probably illegal as well, but we may never know.
Illegal procedures, non-negotiation, and the revocation of parking privileges. This is the Republican means to win at any costs.
It's heartening to see the Republican base, the real one- not the Tea Party one- start the backlash against the Party for where it wants to make its budget cuts. Tomorrow a coalition of churches is sending a large group of young people into the Capitol to distribute wrist bands to all the representatives and senators. These wrist bands look like the myriad others out there, the fat rubber band kind. What they say on them is great: What Would Jesus Cut? Priceless.
The SCOTUS got the Southboro Baptist case right. As deplorable as what they do is, Free Speech is Free Speech.

There is no answer as there is no reason for Guantanamo to be open. I also indicated that there was a connection between the two questions. In both cases, we are holding people illegally and inhumanely. We are not only breaking our own laws, but we are breaking international laws. Of course, the Bushies broke international laws, too. One could argue that they started this, which while true does not exonerate the current administration who inexplicably continues to violate our laws and the Constitution. We are quite quick to point the spotlight on other countries who practice human rights violations while being arrogant enough to think that our own moral code doesn't apply to us. It's shameful.
Question of the Day: Who is to blame for the mess we find ourselves in? Answer tomorrow night.
Anyone who still believes the birthers aren't racist need only see this point: They never talk about his white mother or grandparents. They only talk about the half of his heritage that they see.

2/28 Random Ramblings From the Wheel
Badger: A fierce animal that will protect itself and its young at all costs, capable of fending off larger animals like wolves and bears. The state animal of Wisconsin.
132 + 1: The number of representatives in the Wisconsin assembly and Senate, plus Gov. Scott Walker.
70,000 Badgers vs. 133 men. I'm betting on the badgers.
K-Daffy Duck's reign is as solid as Jello...before it gets to the fridge.
So, Newt Gingrich is thinking about running for POTUS. Well Newt, might want to keep thinking 'cuz I think you got no chance. If you were the only one running, you'd lose. Keep the tin foil hat handy. You can't beat Pawlenty or Palin for the nomination and you sure as hell can't be Obama.
Speaking of Obama, I sure hope the Dems decide to run someone against him. Maybe Howard Dean would like to try again. I also hope Anthony Weiner decides to run for the Senate. We need someone with guts there.
The Tea Party is threatening to hold the Repubs "accountable", yet they haven't even figured out that they were used and manipulated throughout the election. Just why do you suppose the Party let you guys put the R after your name in the first place? Your ideals aren't any more R than mine. You're supposed to be Libertarians, aren't you?
If the Tea Party is so disgusted with government waste and intrusion, why did only a handful vote against the Boehner boner jet engine project and why are they climbing on board the abortion debate. Passing these draconian laws not only invites government intrusion into people's lives, it requires it.
Said once, saying again department (SOSAD): Obama is not a liberal, progressive, or even Democrat. He's a social Republican. Proof is the health care bill. Check the archives to see why.
Question of the Day: Why isn't anyone talking about the provision in the Walker Bill that allows the governor to assume control of all the energy facilities in the state and do with them whatever he wants? That provision gives him complete autonomy to sell to whomever he wants any/all of those facilities for any amount without any open bidding. Think the Koch brothers have a hand in that? Hmmm...
IMHO: The best picture of the year didn't win. Dead stuttering monarchs are a lot less interesting to me than a movie that challenges you to think. I'll let you guess my pick.
And finally: There was actual ICE on my car when I got off work yesterday morning. ICE! In HB!?! Climate change indeed, my friends.

Random Ramblings From the Wheel
First, a warm Hamster welcome to our newest reader, BG from Irvine, CA. I am looking forward to hearing from him regarding his first foray into the Hamster Paradigm.
Who'da thunk that Wisconsin would be the last remaining hope of keeping the Oligarchy from attaining power? Well, it hasn't happened yet, of course, since Governor Ego is sticking to his plan. But let's face the fact that the only group of fundraisers for the Democrats are the unions. Without them, the Republicans and their corporate overlords can assume complete control.
Can any Hamster name a single Ruling Class society that didn't end in revolution? I can't.
Obama has been eerily silent on the matter, which I think is incredibly shrewd. While there is certainly no doubt that this is a completely partisan political stunt, staying out of it and letting the People manage their own destiny in this is political calculus.
The Administration's announcement that it would no longer defend DOMA (Defense of Marriage Act) in court was another calculation by Team Obama. Since the Republicans have obviously decided that social issues, not jobs or the debt/deficit is their main focus (as if it was ever anything else), he throws them another bone to chew on. This is nothing more than a diversionary tactic, the purpose of which is to keep them working on things other than the important stuff.
By the way, and this is important because one of the FoxBots already said it which means a bunch of their viewers already believe it, "Mubarak Obama" (as she called him)is not choosing which laws to enforce. He very clearly said in his letter to SOH Boehner that while the administration would continue to obey the law, it no longer believed the law is constitutional and therefore would not try to defend it.
Speaking of mindless talking heads, Muhammer G-Q-K-daffy Duck is starting to look like the Glenn Beck of Africa. I wish the press, or maybe his agent, would please give the media the correct spelling of his freaking name. I've seen it spelled with each of the 3 letters above...Ghdaffi, Qaddafi, and Khdafy. Does the guy have a birth certificate we can get our hands on to finally know what his name is? Anyway, he's sounding and looking loonier every day. Killing thousands of his countrymen will certainly earn him a place in history, albeit with the likes of people you normally wouldn't want you name in the same sentence with.
Irony of the day: As the Middle East takes to the streets to bring about democracy, the bastion of that governmental form is moving ever further away from it.
How's that union busting thing working for ya, Mr. Walker? Well, one fact is this: 279 or more than 80% of the teachers at the non-union University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse, just voted to join the union after years of turning it down. Nothing pushes people away from your agenda like an agenda they hate and you refuse to confront.
Seventy thousand people hanging around the capitol in Madison on any given day, yet the Republican assembly still passes the damned bill (illegally, of course). You can't even go to the bathroom without stepping on someone opposed to your position and yet you act like they aren't even there. Balls, that's what that takes.
No arrests in 11 days of protests. Freaking amazing!

His new website opened on Friday and his new show will be on Current TV (channel 196 on Dish...check you local listings) weeknights at 8 (probably eastern time) starting in "late spring" (or on the last day of the 6 months off air as part of his departure arrangement at MSNBC). Note to all Hamsters and Friends...
It has been 6 weeks since my last post and I have spent that time basking in the glow of Frak It. I mean, really, can it get any crazier? Oops. Never say things like that unless you want them to happen. Well, as it happens, I am coming back to the blogosphere to once again tilt at the windmills of my mind. There's going to be a new format, however, one that should ease the digestion a little bit.
I realize that I can be a little verbose, excited, passionate, even wordy. I also realize that you all have lives to live and other things to do. So, with tomorrow night's post I will be serving up kibbles and bits of the news that makes me want to say something. Random Ramblings From the Wheel with occasional longer editorials, which will be clearly marked.
As always, I encourage participation and being passed along to your friends, co-workers, families, and enemies (many of which could fit in any/all of those categories). Feel free to disagree. Civil discourse, unlike what they have in Wisconsin or ReThuglican town halls is always welcome here.
